“The Museum of the Courageous” and its work to tell the stories of people who have taken a stand against hate and discrimination.

The Museum of the Courageous was created in 2019, to search out and tell the stories of ordinary Americans who went to extraordinary measures to speak out against acts of hate and discrimination. Americans who took it upon themselves to “speak up and speak out”   against acts of hate . And these stories have one powerful message in common- that even small actions can have a powerful effect on history and  can encourage others to do the same!

“After the tremendous response to last year’s inaugural Courageous Class, we know that these profound stories of courage bear the potential to change hearts and minds,” said Teresa Vazquez, executive director and founding trustee of MOTC. “As we wade toward the two-year mark on the pandemic, this year’s honorees remind us that humanity is at its strongest when it is united against injustice and discrimination. We’re immensely proud to celebrate the inspiring 2022 Courageous Class, who have shown that every act of courage, no matter how small, has the potential to push back against hate in a meaningful manner.”

“I am so honored to be a part of the Courageous Class of 2022”

There are thousands of stories out there; and I am absolutely thrilled to have MOTC share my story about my involvement in the disability rights movement and the Capitol Crawl as a young child; and its importance to support the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  You don’t have to be a grownup to be a positive part of change.

Please join me in honoring the  Courageous Class of 2022 and remember that your voice matters,  and you too can #standuptohate.
